The Colonists settling on consoles this year

Anno-like city builder, The Colonists, is coming to Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms later this year. While the initial press release only specified that the game will come to Xbox One and Playstation 4, Auroch Digital confirmed to us that the port would be PlayStation 5 and Xbox series compatible.

I also took the opportunity to ask about whether we could expect to see The Colonists on Gamepass. They stated that “We’re really open to things like Game Pass – they’re a great way for players to discover new games and that’s always a good thing!”. So, possibly? It was a rather non-committal answer.

The Colonists is a city builder based on titles such as The Settlers and Anno. It works very much as you would expect to with resource gathering, building and skirmish mechanics all included. The most unique part of the game may be the charming little robots that roam the land. As with the Steam version, the console version of the game is set to include both a peaceful and military campaign, as well as a sandbox mode.

The game, which originally launched on Steam in October 2018, will also feature a new “controller optimized UI” unique to the new version of the game.
